Welcome!
Every morning, I sit with a big cup of coffee in the old, comfy chair I inherited from my grandparents (the one with tiny bite marks on the wooden arms that my mother made when she was teething). It’s still dark.
Out the large living room window, tall trees stand steady behind the neighbors’ houses. One tree looks like a lady with crazy broccoli hair who just sucked on a lemon in front of the queen and is trying unsuccessfully to hide her reaction. Another tree looks like a wide-mouthed snake intent on inhaling a nearby bunny (but I won’t let it).
Ideas float through my mind like white clouds against a blue sky in spring. After a bit, lights come on in the houses across the street. It’s time to hug my husband and children, feed the cats, and warm the pumpkin chocolate-chip muffins. The world is waking up, just like me, and soon I’ll be ready to write.
